Route and retarder
Trucks take Sheikh Zayed Road or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Peak traffic stretches the trip, so we dose the retarder for the expected travel time plus the wait at the plot, and set the slump for your pour hour.
Book early morning or night pours where possible. The roads are lighter, the concrete arrives cooler and the placing temperature in the project spec is easier to meet. The longer haul also means more trucks on the road at once to keep the same rate at the pump, so give us the volume early.
Townhouse and villa volumes
A townhouse slab of 24 m³ is two trucks. A villa raft of 60 m³ is five. A low-rise apartment podium in Discovery Gardens of 108 m³ is nine. We space them so one is always at the pump and the next is close, and if the site slows down, the dispatcher holds departures at Al Quoz.
When several townhouses in a row pour on the same day, the trucks follow the pump down the street in order, which saves a lot of turning in narrow lanes.
Community rules
Al Furjan is a developer community with residents living next to active plots. Check access hours and truck routes with the community management before booking. Discovery Gardens buildings are occupied, so any pour there needs building management on board.
A 43 m boom fits townhouse streets. Low-rise blocks may use the 57 m boom when the pump has to stand away from the building.
Ground
Both areas are inland. Follow the consultant's specification for substructure, with blinding under footings. Some plots on the edge of the community are still open, with wind and sun on fresh slabs, so start curing straight after finishing and avoid midday pours in summer.
Questions from Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens sites
- Is 13 km too far for concrete?
- No. We set the retarder for the travel time and the slump for the pour hour.
- What boom for townhouses?
- A 43 m boom is enough for townhouse slabs, with a small footprint for narrow streets.
